Originally I was going to order these boots for my use. I'm an outdoor instructor that does a lot of freelance work for hunting organizations so it's always great to have backup Muck style boots. From the product description and photos these looked like a great option. Especially since my previous backup boots broke.When I'm not on a contract, I'm the primary caregiver for my elderly mother. She was never one for the outdoors but one of the activities she's taken up in the last few years does mean she spends at least an hour or two in a grass field every week or so. She doesn't have and has never had proper outdoor gear and has refused to use any of the good stuff that I or anyone else she knows has given her or offered to lend her for free. Instead she prefers to get the cheapest quality stuff she finds when she goes on her shopping sprees. Which always dangerously underperforms and often breaks even with the very low activity level and bad weather tolerance of my mother. It makes me really worried about her health when the weather gets wetter and colder when I'm away. Fortunately when these boots were offered to me for review, her previous pair of boots had a catastrophic failure (cracked in half down the middle) and she couldn't find any boots her size at the local stores. I was out of town at the time, but I was able to call her up and ask her if she wanted a set of new boots. Unusually she accepted. I was able to arrange for someone to look in on her right after to show her that product page and measure her feet and calf to determine the correct size. One great thing about these boots is that they're available in smaller sizes which is unusual for boots of this style.Long story short, my mother adores these boots. They fit her perfectly and comfortably. They keep her feet dry as well as her lower legs. And more importantly they're insulated so they keep her warm. Since she still wears cotton socks and refuse to let me get her good wool ones. And well I wouldn't say the trend is the best in the world, it's significantly better than anything that she's ever used.They boots have a boot kick molded into the back which is great because once I taught my mother how to use it, she's able to take them on and off without help.Obviously these boots are too small for me, but I have examined them extensively and I have been impressed with the build quality. It's on par with maybe even exceeding that of current generation Muck boots. I have observed her using these and she has a much easier time getting around. It doesn't completely alleviate my concerns about her health since she still primarily wears cotton layers but at least now I'm much less concerned about her feet. If these boots were to get lost or break I would absolutely buy another pair for her.I will note that you should take careful note of the size, particularly boot height. They're about an inch below my mother's knees. She almost refused to put them on because she was concerned that they were too tall. I was also really impressed with how thorough and detailed the size chart was.I use one of the good quality models of Muck boots when I'm in the field. Though I do try to avoid wearing them if at all possible because I don't find them particularly comfortable. Based my observations, if I had ordered these Kalkal in my size and preferred color, I think it's reasonable to say that I would be very happy with them and might consider swapping out my Mucks for them. Enough that I bookmarked this product page and will consider purchasing them for myself at a future point in time.

I love these boots. I have big feet, but the size 15 fit comfortably and, more importantly, snugly. Usually, boots are too narrow for me or too lose. That leads to sore feet or blisters. Not with these, the fit seems just right. The bottom is made of thick and durable rubber, but with enough flexibility to never feel stiff or constricting. The tops are some kind of thick stretch spanex/nylon type material. That's worked great for me. If there is a downside, the material part at the top is going to be hard to clean once my clay-soil mud gets on it... but, hey, they are muck boots. These are my favorite muck-about boots now!
These boots are of excellent quality and design. There is some extra room above the toes and around the calve, but it is a bit tighter around the ankle-to-heel area, which is really nice. I have seen other variations of boots that fit loosely all over, making the boots flop around while walking, but this design gives full control even though other parts are loose. It is nice to have room around the calves and toes for padded socks and tucking in underpants. I wear a men's size 13-14 shoe for the length of my foot, so I usually stay at 13 for boots, but I would likely fit more reasonably into a 12 with this set. However, due to the design, my feet do not slide around like one might expect from a larger-sized boot. I haven't trudged through mud or water yet, but I did decide to give them a full-day test around the house (I work at home). After a full day of a cold basement office and running up and down the stairs, I am happy to say that these boots are very comfortable, and my feet were much warmer than usual.
I bought one size up from my normal shoe size and the fit was pretty perfect.These boots are heavy duty and comfortable. The neoprene top half makes them lighter than all-rubber/plastic boots. It also makes the top feel more comfortable on your calves. It doesn't dig into your leg when you walk because it's soft fabric, not hard rubber.The fit on my feet was good, including the width. My feet are slightly wider than normal, so that was welcome.Rubber boots are always difficult to pull off, and they thought of a solution for that. In the last photo, you can see how they added a little nub to the back of the heel. This is so you can use the toe of your other foot to help push the boot off. Clever.All in all, I'm happy with this product. They're sturdy, comfortable, lightweight, and waterproof... and that's what I needed.
